Hello Creative!

Creativity isn’t only for writers, photographers, artists and such. It’s at the root of all of us.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say I wish I could draw, I’d love to paint, be a writer, photographer….or just feel they aren’t creative. This hurts my heart a bit, because I can feel the deflation in their voice. Yet these things exist in a part of each and every one of us. We often just don’t see it in ourselves.

Sometimes talent comes naturally. Other times it’s coaxed out and realized by focus and participation. However or wherever it occurs, trust me, it’s there.

Creativity is often linked to more “artistic” endeavors. However, doctors, lawyers, mathematicians and scientists use it to come up with solutions to problems. We all use it in our basic daily activities finding  ways to do things better, solve problems, make food tastier, look prettier, decorate for parties, get things done, make a house a home or find  another pathway to our dreams.

As you can see, creativity shows up in some ways that are definitely more fun than others. In the end, your “artistic” capabilities often depend on what you focus on. And so does your level of success. It’s all relative. If you continue to put your energies into cultivating it, the more your talent grows. If you start with a certain level of talent and don’t do anything to help it, you probably won’t get anywhere.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Often times, we judge ourselves harshly. How many times have you created something (say a drawing or a painting, even a meal) and feel it isn’t up to par or your own self conceived standards. Then you’ll share it someone else and they end up being head over heels in love with  it. Beauty is found in all things, most especially, in the eye of the beholder.

We sometimes forget, there’s also nothing wrong with pursuing or finding your talents, growing a creative garden for own enjoyment and personal growth. Whether you choose to share it with others, or turn it into a business, is completely up to you.

I hope you’ll decide to embrace this path for yourself, if no one else. Although I’m pretty sure if you share your gifts, people will be truly impressed and enamored more than you’d ever think, than if you hadn’t shared it.

I’d love to hear what you think and where feel like you are with your own creativity. Please be sure to leave your comments below and follow along with us! Until next time…
